Excellent question! Maybe it doesn't stick in my mind, because it's unquantifiable. For example, I talk mostly of being...
Croatian - I'm 1/4 Cherokee Indian - I'm 1/32
So... I guess that leaves room for a lot of other stuff. As Mom pointed out, some of my ancestors are "Fitzgeralds" and "Johnstons," so I suppose it should have been more obvious. :)
However, because they have the name "Rahija", they may consider themselves 1/2 German and 1/2 Croation, as everyone asks, "What nationality is Rahija?". Who knows, anymore, there is such a mix, I think it will be less and less of an issue when our girls are older. Who knows.
Sarah is 100% German? Wow! I didn't think there were many 100%-ers out there any more. Kudos! Well, I'm glad you didn't marry a German, but instead decided on sweet 'ole bag of mixed nuts! :)

How did you not know you were Irish?

Well, I may not be 100%, but as far back as I know, it's German on both sides for me. Whew, I broke the cycle!
