The Black Tie Bingo Disco Ball

Well, I just discovered (or had confirmed) today that to most guys the phrase "rain check," when uttered/written by any girl in response to an invitation to do something, translates "no... not now... not ever."

That's really unfortunate, because I'm sure I've used that very phrase... more than once... when I truly would have been interested but had other commitments I couldn't break. I guess the reasoning behind that masculine theory is that for the "right guy" a girl will be willing to rearrange any previous engagements. I dunno... couldn't it also mean that she has integrity and fulfills her commitments?

So... what are the right words then? I obviously need some coaching. :)

How about...
"Hey Krista, do you want to go see that new movie with me tonight?" said the handsome bachelor.
"I'd really love to, but I have a hair appointment this evening. I am free Saturday night though, and maybe we could get some dinner before the movie," Krista replied with a smile.
"That sound great! I was afraid I was going to get 'rainchecked' again!" he exclaimed.

WOW, that's Pulitzer Prize winning writing, if I do say so myself!
