I don't know if this bothers me as much as it amuses me. There's a radio commercial I've heard several times for Wholesale Computers here in Tulsa. The character in these commercials is called "The Bargain Hunter," and he's basically a rip-off of Steve Erwin, The (late) Crocodile Hunter. But, he talks with the same thick Australian accent.
The commercial begins with a phone call between someone needing computer support and an Indian-sounding tech support guy. The interaction is that the guy calling in is frustrated because he can't understand the tech guy, because his English is not great. In steps (talks) the Bargain Hunter who tries to empathize with everyone who's ever had a similar experience of not being able to understand on-line tech support (who are often outsourced). But, whoever prepared the commercial seemed to miss the fact that The Bargain Hunter speaks with a VERY thick accent and could be equally difficult to understand.
Just seem ironic to me. Or poorly conceived, anyway.
